I could not put this down! Is it bad to root for the bad guy? Maybe I have Stockholm Syndrome, but I wouldn’t mind being kidnapped to go live in a desert with no one else around.
Adorei! Acabei o livro sem conseguir odiar o Ty, mas consigo perceber perfeitamente que ele cometeu um crime! Gemma é grande personagem!

I read this book for the first time when I was in junior high and I loved it. I just found out it’s getting a companion novel and wanted to reread it before it came out. I was nervous it wouldn’t live up to how I felt about it when I was younger. It did though. Maybe I romanticized parts of it I shouldn’t have back then, but this is still a very good book with a deeply complicated story. I’m so excited to see where the author takes it with the new book.
I love this so much. And it kinda scares me. Because I hated Ty at first, so much and wanted Gemma to escape so badly. I was angry and thought of things I'd say to him if were Gemma. But my feelings changed and I started to love him in some way, like Gemma did. I didn't want him to go to prison in the end. Some part of me is hoping Gemma changed her mind after she finished the letter. That she said she went willingly. And that they let him go. And Gemma would go home, she wouldn't be with him. But Ty would be in the desert, the place he loves & belongs in. And he'd know the girl he loves, loves him back. I know what he did was wrong, but I can't help feeling with him.
I would rate this book 2 stars. I was a little interested at first but as the story continued I began to lose interest. The plot started to feel a little repetitive and It was getting really boring. The beginning hooked me in because I had never read a book quite like Stolen with a 2 very strange topics. Love and Abduction. I would not recommend this book to my friends because they too would die from boredom like I did.

"It's hard to hate someone once you understand them.”
This is a gripping tale of survival and resilience. Gemma, a teenage girl, is abducted from the Bangkok international airport and held captive in the unforgiving Australian outback. The novel explores themes of isolation, fear, and the human spirit.
I seriously struggled with the developing romantic dynamic between Gemma and her captor, Ty. The author's choice to romanticize their relationship rather than addressing it as a complex and harmful psychological response to trauma was very unsettling. This portrayal can be misleading, particularly for younger readers leading to the glamorization of "trauma bonding."
That said, I was relieved that Christopher did not have Gemma become entirely submissive. Her unwavering determination to escape kept me engaged and hopeful.
While the subject matter is undoubtedly heavy and a bit contentious, it's refreshing to see authors of young adult fiction exploring complex issues with depth.
This is a provocative and thought-provoking read. While the romanticization of the captor-victim relationship is a significant flaw in my opinion, the novel's exploration of survival, resilience, and the human psyche is commendable.
