Die Gabe

Naomi Alderman

3.8 AVERAGE

Good interesting premise - what happens when women suddenly have the power to fight back against men. And it raises interesting questions: are all humans inherently violent? Are characteristics such as nurturing and violence gender linked or power linked?
Aside of that she is a smart writer and the novel holds your attention the whole way through. 5* if you like dystopian / apocalyptic fiction but even if that's not your preference it is well worth reading

challenging dark slow-paced

Deeply disturbing; worth it all for the last section. Philosophically interesting, if dark, in other times...with the fog of menace and war swirling globally and themes of power and corruption playing out in real life, its exploration and conclusion are almost too much to bear.
