I almost put this down at first, but I’m so glad I kept reading! Disturbing at times.

It was quite dark and requires a trigger warning for sure. The plot twists seemed far fetched and unbelievable. The characters were not lovable and the dialogue was strained and forced. It was suspenseful and I did want to continue reading until the end.

Enjoyable but not a standout book. A small twist at the end was probably expected if I had been paying attention more while listening.

Shemilt’s writing is so clear and exacting to create the perfect visualizations and are also so rich with emotion. You can feel and understand the motivations of each character and can see the lives in great detail of so many people in her thorough prose. Quick read that doesn’t feel rushed I can’t wait to read her other works.
