On today's episode of, I would rather watch a horror movie rated zero on RottenTomatoes.

You are in for:
■ A man who had a volunteering job in Africa and a woman who wants to make candles for a living. Are you f serious right now?

Another brilliant small-town romcom from Staci Hart! Friends With Benedicts had everything: humour, romance, the drama to keep you hooked. I had so much fun reading this book. Our protagonists had a long-standing summer romance. Whenever Presley would visit her cousins in Texas, she and Sebastian would end up together. For as long as summer lasts. Until he went into the Peace Corps, and each one went on with their lives. But then Presley is back in town, with a secret she's kept for the five years they've been apart.

I absolutely enjoyed Presley and Sebastian's romance; both are really lovely, had great chemistry, and I loved the family dynamics they had. But I was as invested in the minor characters. There were so many charming characters in this small town. The whole small-town community vibe is what I love about this trope.

I can't wait for more books to come. Fans of small-town romantic comedies will definitely love this.

I really liked Sebastian and Presley! This story was so good and I really loved every bit of it. Priscilla was great as well. This one was funny and cute and super sweet, and honestly I couldn't put it down. Definitely looking forward to reading more from Staci Hart!

"I've been waiting for you my whole life. I've been waiting for this. I've live for the times when you were mine, wishing I could keep you. And now I finally have the chance, a chance I'm not going to let get away. A chance that means more than it ever did because now I have a shot at everything I've ever wanted and thought I couldn't have."

Friends with Benedicts has all the dreamy summer-time romance, small-town, second-chance romance vibes that deliver the perfect blend of heart, heat and humor!

After all these years apart, Presley and Sebastian's chemistry is just as intense as the last time they saw each other. Sweet, tender, and oh so steamy with a dash of trepidation and angst. Cilla is a laugh-riot and the moments between her and Sebastian are so sweet, funny and heart-meltingly adorable. Add in the Blum sisters, (Presley's cousins) an ex, and the drama of trying to save their small town from a big-box store, Friends with Benedicts is a must-read of the summer.

This was an okay read for me. The writing flowed pretty well, but I did feel like the characters were just going around in circles sometimes. I liked Presley and Sebastian together for the most part. I do agree with some other reviewers who mentioned that it was hard to understand their feelings now because we didn't really get a good feel for their love story from before. I would have liked for them to get to know each other a little better now, since it's been 5 years, before being head over heels again. The ending was sweet, and these 2 get their HEA. Although this wasn't my fav from this author, I will be looking forward to her next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

Presley and Sebastian were always a summer fling during high school but exactly 4 years and 9 months later Presley finds herself back in that little town again. While they try and keep things casual both are forced to face their true feelings for each other as well and must now reimagine their futures since Presley has to reveal the secret she has been keeping all those years.

I loved this book!! From the small town romance to the true sense of community that has to come together! I’m never a fan of when a book doesn’t explain a characters backstory right off the bat I always feel lost but with with Staci’s writing both main characters and some of the side characters backstories are explained right from the beginning. The characters were great! Presley and Sebastian had unbelievable chemistry even from spending so much time apart, which made for some steamy scenes!

FRIENDS WITH BENEDICTS - STACI HART

ARC provided by the author for a review!

Timing is everything. And theirs usually sucks.

Sebastian and Presley are like the two sides of the magnet. When they’re near each other, their chemistry is off the racks, they usually get magnetised and fall into the pithole of having a hot summer fling. Up until five years ago, that was their modus operandi. Up until five years ago, they were just reckless kids having fun.
But five years ago they separated, with him going to Africa, and her going back home. They had no contact, but had something connecting them all along. Right up until the moment, when they were forced to come back to the small town.
I really liked Presley’s character in BET THE FARM, and as it was one of my favourite reads this year so far (that books tickles my trope fancy like you wouldn’t believe), I was glad to go back to that world – only to discover that our heroine was uprooted from California.
Sebastian was forced to come home, too, altough his motivation was linked to some family drama, his stay seemed to last longer than intended. When he gets the news about Presley, he’s looking for salvation in the romantic kind - his last relationship had come to and end- so their coming together again should be prophetic. Shouldn’t it?

I found Sebastian charming, a bit naive, and a loooot of stubbornnes came from his direction. Presley was the more pragmatic one out of the two of them – they were a bit ying and yang in this regard. She had a lot on her plate for a long time, and balancing a new/not so new fling with the potencial consequences of things never being the same again put a big burden on her shoulders. I liked that she was resilient, that she had strong female relationships, knew how to get over pettiness.
Their romance was a bit fast paced and left me questioning a few things while reading, but overall they had chemistry, banter, and the knowledge about one anothet that only former lovers could have.
But this knowledge also hindered the story in my eyes, as we were given facts and statements about feelings, but we didn’t have quite the understanding of them – I see what it meant to not have a bigger conflict in the first half of the book, and how the underlying tension brought us to the catalyst for it later… But I would have still kind of appreciated it. My only other small „problem” was that the storyline was a bit predictable. Although I have to admit it, I was kind of in a reading slump, so I appreciated the gentle guiding hand into reading romance books again, that this story provided.
Lastly, I have to mention Staci Hart’s penmanship. As always, my ARC is full of highlights of simple life lessons wrapped into words.
