I was actually surprised with how much I liked this book. The plot and twists were predictable, but I still enjoyed the story. Tension and spice were decent. I did get quite annoyed at the female MC for not figuring out the last note right away. My heart swooned when I read it, but I guess she was a bit slow on the revelation and it didn’t have as great an effect as I thought it would. Overall, though, I enjoyed it. Make sure to check trigger warnings before reading!

My first book by this author and this was so good! I'm in love with the characters, the story, the writing style!

Dear Love, I Hate You brings emotions and creativity. Word Love in the title has a double meaning. You're going to love it when you get to that part.

There's so much chemistry between the main characters. The way they tease each other, those notes that cause so much drama and the tension! Omg, the tension! You know those first looks, the little touches, when being in the same room makes your senses on high alert. And the first kiss! It felt like I was holding my breath throughout the whole story and could finaly breathe when it happened. I sure do love being teased.
And there's so much more to the story, but I'm not going to spoil it for you. Just know that you're going to eat it up.

I will buy a paperback edition of Dear Love, I Hate You, I just have to have it.

With attitude and power. This was perfection.
dark emotional sad slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

I absolutely love this book! I've read it a few times and recommend it to anyone who likes highschool age, romance, penpals, drama, and some steamy scenes.

Dear Love, I Hate You is about a girl and boy who accidentally becomes penpals through secret notes listing their deepest confessions.

I would give this a 2 out of 4 on the steamy scale.  There's lots of references to sexual activity, some is on page some of referenced to off page.  There are only a few detailed scene.

Read the trigger warning before reading.
This books mentioned some difficult topics ( death, suicide, family issues, relations with a minor)

This story was something so unexpected that I was blown away. While a little slow to start off, the build up was completely worth it. My heart aches for Vee as she is trying to navigate being the good sister, school and so much more. Enter the notes and I absolutely loved every moment of this back and forth that Vee and Xavier have created. You can feel their connection to start but seeing it bubble over was so much more. Yes they are in high school but the level that these kids HAD to grow up, oh my stars. It was so emotional and heartbreaking but so much passion. I was on my toes throughout and my mind raced through a gambit of emotions as this story played out. The twists, the turns and those jaw dropping moments. I wanted to rage at moments but when I got it, my heart!!! Xavier is just wow!
Overall, this book just blew me away. I couldn’t put it down once I started. Seeing the growth not just in Vee but Xavier as well was absolutely stunning. How they evolve, grow and take care of each other. There is so much that happens and it will completely keep you on your toes the whole time. I adored the wit and banter. The playfulness that they had. This is a very mature young adult novel but one that is SO worth it!

WOW! what a great book!

WOW! what a great book! Having moved beyond the high school phase of my life, I typically steer away from romances with teenaged characters. However, I loved Xavier and Vee’s story! Eliah Greenwood did a phenomenal job writing Xavier and Vee, and man, do I wish guys like Xavier existed in real life

4 STARS - This is going to read like two reviews.

The story gets 5 STARS. I really loved this story. The concept was unique and original. I devoured it in one day.

The note aspect of this story really pulled me in. Aveena and Xavier connecting or reconnecting through anonymous notes truly added a level of intimacy to their relationship. Their guards were down and they shared their deepest secrets with each other. When the inevitable happens, and they found out who the other one is, it only heightens their relationship.

Both of these characters are flawed. You will hate the choices they make and some of the things they do, but, for me, it added a level of humanity to them. They are teens, Seniors, which adds to them not making the best decisions all the time. I really did love them together, though, and I love when an author has outside conflicts to disrupt the relationship of the H & h.

The ending was satisfying, and I’m already dying and hoping that she gives the secondary characters stories because I loved them.

3 STARS is for the development of the story. Do not misunderstand the rating. I enjoyed her writing style, her syntax and her diction. I loved the order of the plot and how she sets up the conflict and resolves it.

The execution floundered a bit for me. There are aspects of the story that I felt needed to be woven into the story a bit more, being made a bigger part of the characters story and their character development. There some big moments I wished would have been more fleshed out, instead of dropped on us without a foundation being laid. Some aspects of the story and secondary plot lines were felt rushed, making the pacing a bit off. There were also some inconsistencies that pulled me out of the story.

With all the being said, I STILL REALLY LOVED THE STORY. It captivated me, the characters consumed me. I would absolutely pick up another book from this author, and I’m secretly hoping we get more from this world.
