Better than the 2006 run (ash and herbert actually get to interact, for one) but still felt pretty mid. also herbert was much more himself in this which was nice. maybe i’m just not a comics person. also why did the artist make herbert look more like a young john oliver than jeffrey combs?? i think it had to be an intentional choice because as a herbert west loving artist i KNOW that jeffrey combs has an upturned nose with a straight nose bridge. It’s kind of a defining feature of his. and i suppose there’s nothing wrong with making your own herbert west design, but it was weird that he looked like he was meant to be movie herbert except for his nose. also ash looked like bruce campbell so like what are we even doing here. if you’re gonna do your own designs for them then COMMIT.
