Short, explanatory pieces on everything from the social contract to surrealism. As an entry point to large and sometimes impenetrable philosophical subjects, this book serves a grand purpose. So, if you ever wanted to know what duty or Gaia is without resorting to dry textbooks, this will whet your appetite.

This is a good book for anyone fairly new to philosophy as it introduces some of the great theories and thoughts within philosophy without covering them in great depth or employing too much philosophical jargon.
