A little disappointing. the novel literally starts when she meets Astor and ends shortly after the Titanic sinks. I was hoping to learn what kind of life she led in the years after the Titanic disaster.
I really enjoyed this book, but I’m curious as to where the fiction and reality blurs. The book read as if it were a diary of some kind to her son. Did such a thing exist? Either way, I think the author did a really nice job with the story, even though I’m really sad at the moment. You think of rich people as having extravagant, easy lives, but this poor woman was hounded by the press, snubbed by Astor’s society friends, and left to mourn his loss because of the stupid “only women and children” in the lifeboats the point of sending lifeboats out half empty. Great book though.
