Read for my Gender and Poetry class, and, man, was this a great discovery. Waite does a deep dive into gender and sex and sexuality and family and growing up messy.
Through the window, I watch the neighbor
folding up the quilt in the porch light.
For a moment, I think she is my mother,
folding up my life into equal parts.
I fold the newspaper--on one side,
there was no note. On the other,
survived by his family.
