If you get a chance to read this book do so. Let me say that I did NOT want to put it down! I absolutely adored Olivia. Her bulldozing optimism was so addicting. She made me want to find the fun in every crazy part of life. I loved Jake but also wanted to strangle him at times. I did understand his desire to not change anything. It just hurt me everytime he bully talked to Olivia. This book was not at all what I expected. It was more. It was fun and lighthearted but it also made me think. It reminded me of the pride we sometimes misplace in hard work. It reminded me of the sacrifices we make and the struggles we deal with. But it also reminded me of the good that we can do when we look past all the pi$$ and vinegar that life throws at us. I would definitely bet the farm on this book!

*I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*

If you’re a rom-com fan, then you’ve probably heard of the fabulous Staci Hart or one of her numerous books/series like The Bennet Brothers, The Red Lipstick Coalition, and Fool Me Once. However, her newest novel, Bet the Farm (which comes out February 23rd), might be her best work yet!

This might be my favorite Staci Hart book yet! Did I tear up while reading this? Yes. Did I laugh? Yes. Swoon? You bet! I mean I think we all secretly wish we had a hot Croatian ranch hand like Jake in our lives... But aside from his hotness, Jake, along with our other protagonist, Olivia, complement each other perfectly! A brooding, controlling guy who has trouble trusting others who’s forced to share a farm with a bubbly, social media savvy city gal who is obsessed with the color pink? It’s a recipe for a delicious enemies-to-lovers romance!

As always, Hart weaves together a wonderful romance filled with drama, witty banter, silly puns, and, of course, the steaminess most of us crave while reading a good rom-com. Plus, I feel like I learned a lot about farm work and how cattle farms are run. You can definitely tell that Hart did her research while writing this book.

Anyway, I adored this book! It was steamy, funny, and super sweet to read! For those of you who haven’t read a Staci Hart book, you need to rectify that immediately and read Bet the Farm! Any rom-com lovers will fall in love with this book!

*I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.

Olivia Brent has left her life in New York to return home to her small town in Northern California. Pop, Olivia’s grandfather, has passed away, leaving her the family dairy farm. She isn’t the only one to inherit the farm. Jake Milovic was Pop’s right hand man and has been like a son to him since he started working at the farm at 16, ten years ago. The farm has fallen into debt and it’s up to the two of them to work together to get the farm to thrive. He thinks she’s become too much of a city girl and thinks she won’t last the summer. She’s determined to prove that she has what it takes to help the farm succeed.

Jake is the perfect brooding, grumpy hero to match Olivia’s positivity and I just LOVED the banter and flirting. They both want the farm to succeed, but they each have their own way of doing that the other doesn’t understand, so it leads to a lot of verbal sparring and funny moments. They’re also grieving in different ways and have to grow to understand each other. The story also an element of mystery which was fun to see unravel.

I have nothing but good things to say about this book. I had been wanting to read this book once I heard about it and am so thankful I was gifted an ARC for an honest review. I devoured it in one sitting. It was such a joy to read!
You’ll fall in love with the animals, you’ll fall in love with Olivia and Jake, and you’ll fall in love with Brent Farm. I have a feeling Staci Hart isn’t finished with this world and I’m hoping we get to visit it again very soon.
