I love a world where crossovers happen and Lexi Blake now has a delicious crossover happening between her Masters and Mercs, Lawless, and now Courting Justice series. This makes me just as happy as when I watch all my Chicago shows (Fire, Med, Justice-although it was cancelled let's not discuss about how disappointed I was). Anyway, Order of Protection brings all of Lexi's worlds together to help bring security, order, and lawfulness into these characters lives to help right their wrongs as only Lexi's strong characters can do.

Henry Garrison is known as The Monster of Manhattan. A lawyer known for getting horrible people off over and over again, his success in the courtroom is unparalleled only to the demise of his career. A nasty divorce to a potential oscar winning actress threw him in the entertainment spotlight and unfortunately also threw him in a cycle of drinking. Now on the road to recovery, dragging his career, his life, and his liver out of the gutter he's trying to start over. What he needs are some clients. What he needs is some good fortune. He doesn't exactly get what he wished for, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Taylor Winston-Hughes or Win as she prefers to be called by those who really know her was raised by her uncle when her parents died in an accident. This isn't what makes Win unique, what makes Taylor Winston-Hughes unique is the fact that she's a billionaire heiress. On top of being an heiress Win foolishly was also on a reality TV show with some of her friends which lead to Win ending up in rehab, not for drugs or alcohol, but for an eating disorder. Finally on the mend Win has left the show, is looking towards the future, and has taken her life back from the very brink of death. She has everything to live for, so who could possibly be out to kill her?

Henry and Win desperately need each other, they are broken and help heal one another, but when things fall apart, when everything goes wrong, will they still be each others rock or will they go back to their old vices? Time is running short and they need to work together to find some answers before the killer strikes again.

Order of Protection is filled with twists and turns that will keep you intrigued from beginning to end. I'm excited to see where this series continues to grow and for more crossover happiness.

Nothing says trouble like a reality tv star being arrested for murder. Nothing spells ratings like the lawyer representing her being a past lover. Nothing spells trouble like holes in an alibi and lack of proof...

But that isn't stopping the DA and it's only going to get worse.

Order of Protection is a new start to new series but don't fret too much, there are plenty of "visits" from familiar faces in the Lexi Blake universe.

Enjoy the muscled men of McKay- Taggert and their appearances. But don't think this legal office is lacking in the looks department either!I look forward to future installments.

This audiobook went on forever. It probably would have been more entertaining if Ian had shown up. Some of the high points were when members of the McKay Taggert group showed up. It was a treat to see Remi, Wade, Chase, and Michael Malone make an appearance.

I liked Win. I thought she was incredibly naive. I didn't understand how she kept making excuses for Bree and Trevor, but she was able to stand up to mean, whiny Henry Garrison. I didn't like him. As far as I was concerned, he never redeemed himself. He stayed unlikable. I don't know why Win wanted him.

This book dragged at the beginning. By the time some action happened, it was obvious who was involved. I didn't understand why Win had such sympathy for people that were so consistently hateful to her. On top of that she had been warned about them on a few occasions.

After the murder case was resolved, the story still dragged on forever tying up loose ends. Tbh, I only wanted this book to end. Never felt any chemistry between Henry and Win. This was not one of my favorite Lexi Blake novels.

Win and Henry's story was definitely a complicated one. I wasn't hooked into this story quite as quickly as I usually am with Lexi Blake's books, but I'm so glad I kept reading. Win was a bit naive at times, but her heart was always in the right place. Henry was a cynical man and Win's light was just what he needed. This story had a murder mystery story line and to say that plot was complicated is an understatement. There were twists and turns that I could see coming, and others that I couldn't. Some of the secondary characters were annoying and by the time the murder happened I had zero sympathy for the victim. Once I was into the story, I was hooked and didn't put it down until I got through the very satisfying ending. I can't wait to read more in this series and the other series by Lexi Blake.

Win Hughes has given up life as a reality television star after surviving anorexia. When she trips while running on the beach, she finds herself in the arms of handsome attorney, Henry Garrison who is trying to escape demons of his own. Henry convinces Win to stay at his bungalow for the night during a strong summer storm. The two of them decide to spend the next couple of weeks together while Henry closes up his grandfather's house and puts it on the market. After going their separate ways, they both think that their time together is over, but when Win is arrested for killing her best friend, Henry decides to defend her even though he discovers secrets about Win's past that she had been hiding.

Order of Protection is a passably light romantic mystery with some interesting twists and turns. Win is a likable character, but Henry is less so, especially in the way he treats Win when he finds out about her past. The mystery is fairly predictable but does manage a few surprises at the end of the book. Overall, even with the novel's shortcomings, Order of Protection is a quick, engaging read.
3 1/2 stars.

Order of Protection was a fun read. Not quite what I was expecting when I started it, but I really enjoyed it.

Henry is a lawyer, a very good, very ruthless lawyer. He was married to an actress and everyone knows what happened between them. All of the crazy stuff he went through with her and after that whole ordeal he wants to stay far away from the limelight. He never wants to be in that world again. He is also a recovering alcoholic and things are pretty stressful at the moment and he keeps thinking about taking just one drink...

Win is the only survivor of an accident that killed her rich parents. She is also a reality TV star, though she is trying to change that. She never wanted to be on reality TV, but she did with her friend and has an eating disorder to show for it. Though she is getting healthy again and is no longer starving herself for some control. She is taking some time to regroup before she starts her studies again.

When these two first meet Henry doesn't know who Win really is. He just sees this kind, caring, wonderful woman that he was determined to only have a short fling with, but once it is over wonders if it could become more. The two of them were so sweet together and that is what I wasn't expecting. I wasn't expecting them to be so warm and fuzzy when they first met, but I am glad they were. It worked for them.

Now when Win gets accused of murder and Henry shows up to help her out, oh I was not a big Henry fan. I mean he chose to keep working and helping Win even though he is super angry when he finds out who she was. He never wanted anything to do with that life ever again and even though she left the show, she is still in that world. These two had a lot of hurdles to climb before they could figure out if they wanted forever with each other. There is the fact of Win being set up for murder, Henry being angry for being lied to, and Win just trying to figure everything out. I loved the who done it aspect of the story and watching these two try and fight against the pull that is there for both of them. This was a really fun read.

Order of Protection is a sexy contemporary that feature two lost souls with trust issues. Henry is rebuilding his life after a disastrous marriage and a stint in rehab for alcohol abuse. Win has other issues including eating issues. These two are terrific together if they can get past their issues. I really enjoyed this fast paced, steamy story.

One hot lawyer coming right up!!

The Courting Justice novels were ones I hadn't read of Lexi's because I didn't know where they fit and I wasn't sure if I would enjoy them.... well I cannot believe I waited as long as I did because this series was fabulous. Set in the "future" compared to all the Lexi Blake books that are out now (though that will change very soon) I loved all the links that Lexi made to the McKay-Taggart world.
And now to the actual story... I loved this take on reality TV stars and the impact of media influencing murder trials. Win and Henry were great together and the true story of what happened to the "Million Dollar Baby" all those years ago was one I didn't see coming! A definite reread and highly recommended!!
