Superbly atmospheric descriptions, tense, solid characters, the only thing that steals from this gorgeous story is the hard to follow old language and the, frequently, too long passages.

Foundation of Gothic Writing

An important book which influenced many of my favorite gothic books from the 19 century. It's dated, for sure, but interesting nonetheless.
