I did not expect to like it but I did. Fast pace, easy read, adventure like an action movie.

Disconnected. That is the main thing I can say of this book.
Technically it was probably average, but not for me.
I felt disconnected from the characters, and hated the human element. I got so tried of how the ptsd got worked into everything.
I felt disconnected from the plot and the monster. No suspense at all for me.
Worst of all after pondering some more of why the book didn't work for me is because the it felt like the author himself was disconnected from the story he wanted to tell.
I have read books with worse plots, execution and annoying characters not to mentioned boring, but all of them felt alive. Even though they were not my taste they always felt told by the author. This one just fell flat.
