This was a sweet age gap book by a new to me author. It's the first in a new series about a group of friends in Maine. The book was well written, and I was drawn into the story. I like that this book not only told the story of the MCs, but it also established the friendship of the group the series will be based on, and we got to get to know them a little as well. I'm looking forward to reading the next books.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily gave my honest review.

I am really impressed with the few books of KC Wells that I have read. I thought this was an outstanding beginning to a new series and I really can't wait to see where it goes from here. Poor Jack spent 20 years denying who he was and he is still reluctant to embrace living his true self. Finn was a sweetheart who knows exactly who he is and what he wants. The friends that Finn has had since childhood are wonderful supporting characters and I loved loved loved Grammy, Carrie and Megan. Highly recommend getting started in this very promising new series.

I just can't. Too many pages have been devoted to going over friendship history and intricacies of one main character and the family relationship with the other.

I'm pleased that one MC has lots of good friends, I don't know that I care what each friends' sexuality is beyond they're good friends and accepting of MC. I'm pleased that the other MC has a good relationship with his ex wife. Both MCs are nice people. I get it.

I'm guessing all this going over such detailed history is laying the ground for successive books? I'm not interested.

Anyway 2 MCs still haven't met and I've no interest in wading through more history lessons and millions of friend names until they do.

The book starts off with a bit of an overview where you get to meet Finn and his friends, some of whom I assume will be getting their own books in the future, and Joel, who is newly divorced and is making a new life after a two decade marriage. I enjoyed the story taking the time to get to know who the men were in the past and dealing with decisions they made as they navigate toward a hopeful future. The slow-burn relationship is handled well and when they give into their desires, sparks fly. This is a great book in the new series and I can't wait for more!

Title - Finn's Fantasy (Maine Men #1)
Author - KC Wells
Genre - MM Romance
Published - April 2021
Pages - 313 Pages

Summary - During the day Finn builds houses along the coast and during the evenings he dreams of the man who walks his chocolate lab along the beach. This man is Finn's dream fantasy guy, gorgeous, salt and pepper hair, blue eyes. But Finn is sure he's properly straight and he'll never get to actually talk to him.
Recently divorced Joel is finally living his life as an out gay man, he's not sure he's ready for a relationship but that doesn't stop him from noticing the hot muscular guy working on the hotel build along the beach.

What I thought about this book - I enjoyed this book. I liked Joel and Finn as characters and I loved the fact Joel's ex-wife was really supportive of him. The plot was a slow burner but I still enjoyed it. The character development was really good. The plot was easy to follow and well written. Overall I did enjoy this book and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Would I Recommend - Yes

Would I Read Again/Continue The Series - Yes/Yes

Rating - 4*

I just can't get over a father voluntarily choosing to move two hours away from his teenage kids, and it's not even for work or anything. And then the responsibility for driving is placed on the kids and the ex-wife? And he's surprised that his relationships with the kids suffer? Unrealistic.
