All I can say is thank god for the secondary romance in this, as I think I would have DNFed it otherwise. I think the McKenna and Aline romance would work for fans of Wuthering Heights (from which its obviously inspired), but since I am famously a hater, I did not like this. I didn't buy any of their relationship (also not a fan of childhood friends to lovers), and I found their treatment of each other to be incredibly callous. Gabriel and Livia, however, were a delight and I wish the focus had been more on them.
Graphic: Injury/Injury detail, Fire/Fire injury, and Sexual content
Moderate: Toxic relationship and Grief

4 stars because it’s two romances in one.
This was great but it took them waaay to long to tell each other the truth and that really annoyed me.
I was (and still am and will be for a very long time probably) AMAZED at how McKenna could continue loving Aline even though he truly thought she never loved him and was only using him. Props to Aline for doing everything she could to keep McKenna from being hurt but also GIRL think about yourself a little come on!!
I thought the Livia and Mr Shaw storyline was cute and it felt nice to read when Aline and McKenna’s story was too stressful.Mr. Shaw DEFINITELY didn’t deserve Livia before he fixed himself so I’m glad he did it AND that he did it for himself AND Livia.
