This is a romance wrapped up in a familial treasure mystery. It's a classic romance, with a few intimate moments, with somewhat interesting set of clues to follow. It feels rushed at times and there were parts that could have been fleshed out but it's still a fun read.

I wanted to like this book, which is why I kept listening to 50%. But it was a slog to get here, I put it down twice and am listening to other things.

There were some memorable characters - the slimeball husband who would do anything for a buck, the ma with the famous pig. Okay, two memorable characters. There were several people running for mayor - the woman who owns the town, maybe the slimeball husband, some other shady character, and at least one more person. They all have various friends and relations.

I think this is part of a series, and if I had read other books I might have had more interest in the many people as I would have met them before.

Stacey, baby, I love you, but this book is a mess. I actually read the first half and skimmed the second half, and I'm glad I did. The writing was pretty amateurish, the characters were flat and boring, and the plot ranged from nonsensical to bland and was often both. But, ya know, a guy's head melted off at the end, so not all bad.
