Loved it! Except why are we still perpetuating this virgin maidenhead nonsense? 🙄

I’d rate this 3.25 stars.
This was a quick read and the story is fast paced. I thought the concept of dragon shifters was interesting. What I wanted and wished this book had more of was character background and development. I got through the whole first half of the book and felt like I didn’t know much about the FMC at all. There seemed to be more focus on the MMC and even still I don’t know these characters well after finishing this book.
I think that if the author spent a little more time developing the FMC and other characters just a little more this would’ve been a 4 star book.
While reading the book, at times the story felt rushed—especially the romance. I’m not a fan of insta-love and while this book wasn’t necessarily a story with insta-love between the two main characters, it did come off that way at times because of the pacing. This book needed more time to flesh everything out.
Overall I enjoyed this story but wanted more.

So……I have mixed feelings. Was it a fun, easy read? Yes. Was it almost an exact revamp of Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey? Also yes. The last quarter of the book was slightly different, but MAN it was blow by blow the same book with the difference of Heart of Chaos having dragon shifters instead of dragon riders.
Still giving it 4 stars because I like Dragonflight haha, and I’ll probably read the next book when it comes out. Romantasy girlies, if you like these books you should branch out to some of the OG female fantasy authors!
