This was the sweetest story. Kenz and Cain were made for each other. He is an overprotective alpha male and she is determined to be independent. She pushes and he pulls. Their story is very inspirational and sweet. Of course with Catherine Cowles you know there will be murder and mayhem and let me tell you it had me gasping for air.

This book is the epitome of perfection. It has danger, love, great mystery and much inspiration. I love all of the books in the Sutter Lake series and this one is close to my favorite. I love all the books by this author and I cannot wait to dive into more. Her characters are relatable and inspiring. Her books are hard to put down and will rip you to shreds and then put you back together. I highly recommend her books.

Full review to come!

This series just keeps getting better and better! I was hooked on Cain and Kennedy's story from page one! The deep sorrow they both carry to how they light up each other's lives was just so compelling.

Cain is a very protective man. When you find out about his past, it makes total sense. Kenz is a sweetheart! My heart broke for both of them because of what they went through. I love how they couldn't stay away from one another no matter how hard they tried. Kennedy brings light and life back to Cain and he gives her a sense of belonging and love. Kenz has such a beautiful soul and watching her bloom was wonderful. Cain facing his demons and no longer letting them control his life was both heartbreaking and beautiful. I love these two so much!

Of course there's some suspense towards the end that we expect from Catherine and it's epic! I loved seeing Walker, Tuck, Taylor, and Jensen again too!

I really enjoyed the first 3 books in this series, and this was no different. I love that we keep exploring a new pair of characters each time the series continues. The big twist near the end did surprise me so I was excited to not see it coming, though, I was a little let down that this was ANOTHER kidnapping story. Sutter Lake must be the town where people are most likely to wind up kidnapped!

Popcorn in hand, kicked my feet and giggle a few times.
fast-paced

I couldn't finish the last book in the series( the 3rd?) i just wasn't as interested as I wanted to be in either of the characters. But this one...something about shared trauma and our girl Catherine Cowles loves a good trauma. This was a fast read for me. I loved that the MMC was so imperfect and had real issues. The 3rd act breakup, though.....
But anyway. I liked this one so much that I actually think that I am going to read the last one in the series instead of ignoring it.

Missing the chemistry that was in the other books between the MCs.

These books are amazing!! Characters with rough past find their perfect happy endings. Love how much of a family the whole town of Sutter Lake are.
