I loved Cain and Kennedy so much! Their romance was unexpected (based on the first few stories in this series), but I’m glad we ended up getting it! This is one of the first series of Catherine’s that I’m reading in order and seeing the past couples come in the story just made me so warm and happy inside. Some tropes include: age gap, strangers to lovers, fierce & protective MMC, quiet but fierce FMC, suspenseful romance, and found family. Some TWS to consider: m*rder (not by either MCs), mentions of off page suic*de, & accident (happens to FMC). Please be careful and take care of yourself.
Truly enjoyed this one, I felt like it was the perfect mix of gripping story with romance. This series is a perfect listening series and I cannot recommend it enough. This author balances her plots so well and the pacing of them is absolutely perfect to keep me intrigued

Cain and Kennedy have my heart. I loved reading about their love and the way it came about.
My heart felt for Kennedy she didn’t deserve anything but I was so happy with what she had made her life to be. Her parents were literally the worst of the worst and I’m glad she found a family in Sutter lake. Cain has his fair share of grief and I was so devastated about his past but I’m glad he found Kennedy they are actually so perfect for each other.
The only problem I had was how Cain was like literally in love with Kennedy but still wouldn’t open up with her. Like I get that what happened broke him but Kennedy had been through enough and then she fell in love and her partner couldn’t trust her I just broke for her. But I’m glad they figured it out.

This story was so good!!! Kenz & Cain were perfect for each other as they were each running from their past.
Kenz is hiding because of the sins of her parents, while Cain is running from the pain his parents caused. The way that these two end up supporting each other and helping the other come to terms with their pain & strife was lovely. It was written really well.
Kenz is a beautiful soul. The fact that she is being targeted was terrible, and then to find out the WHO!¿ I was livid!!! Shooketh. Did not see that coming. 😳
Cain was protective & possessive in all the right ways. I loved that he wanted to throw Kenz bike in the dang lake; that was the start of my swoonfest.
The only part about this series, thus far, that has me bothered - every FMC has been kidnapped thus far. It feels a tad bit lazy & uncreative. Granted, this story has numerous attempts on Kenz life, more than the prior books, but sheeesh
The audio narration was done super well.
