Another beautiful and suspense-filled romance in the Sutter Lake series.

I loved Beautifully Broken Control and the struggles both Kennedy and Cain had to overcome. Both had pasts that kept them from opening up. And it isn’t until craziness stirs up their lives again that they open up with each other.

The hurt Kennedy and Cain harbor from their pasts is raw and emotional. Catherine wrote their story with such grace. And Chuck was so stinking cute! Also loved all the Murder, She Wrote references

Hello to my favourite book in the Sutter Lake series. This time around we focus on Kennedy, who was introduced in book three and Cain, Walker and Tuck's best friend. He's a very successful security company owner who needs space from Portland so decides to buy a house and relocate to Sutter Lake.

Kennedy is pure sunshine. She is wracked with guilt over her father's past mistakes so is trying to redeem herself by being so kind and caring towards others, even if it means missing out on things herself. She was such a complex character, as she had a soft and sweet side with her gratitude jars, but she could also be stubborn in her self-reliance and independence.

Cain has such a mysterious past we only learn about towards the end of the book, which just heightens the suspense. He was also a complex character, as he was so protective of Kennedy but couldn't let her see all of him.

They were truly such an unlikely pair, as his lifestyle was everything she was trying to forget. But she opened his eyes to another way of life and as Kennedy says, "my soul recognised his." SOULMATES ❤️.

Finally, the suspense KILLED me. It was so good and so surprising and I literally gasped out loud.

Highly recommend this series on audio.

FAVOURITE QUOTES:
"I can fight my own battles." "That doesn't mean you should always have to."
"I could have his present, maybe even his future, but I could never have his past."
"That was the ultimate gift. To have someone know you. All of you. The good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful. And love you because of the unique mix it all made."
"You have me, all of me, even the demons."
"There's nothing in this life I'm more grateful for than you."

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure I’d like this one as much as the others cause Cain seemed a bit of an ass. But I loved watching him and Kennedy overcome their last traumas and fall in love. I’m going to be sad when this series is over. One more book to go!

This is my second book from Miss Cowles. Like her previous book on this series, I do like the concept of the story, but the execution is weak. I need more drama/ angst/ complex plot.

Miss Cowles done a frustrating job by adding a bit of suspense on her story. It does not help enhancing anything, since I can guess pretty much who is the culprit.

The chemistry between Cain and Kennedy is so so. Nothing explosive. I do like the small town concept.

Overall I do not like this book nor hate it.

This is officially my favorite Catherine Cowles book that I've read so far! In this book, Kennedy has run away to Sutter Lake to escape her past where her father stole millions of dollars from innocent people and she helped turn him in. Now, she hates money and extravagance and prefers to spend her time giving back to others while living a very low profile, inexpensive life and trying not to draw attention to herself in any way. Cain is a multi-million dollar tech genius and has decided to buy a home in Sutter Lake to escape the guilt of his past that follows him everywhere. He meets Kennedy and is suspicious of her secrets, especially because she's friends with his friends. But the more time he spends with her, the more he realizes she's unlike anyone he's ever met. I loved how protective Cain was when it came to Kennedy and how much he just wanted to take care of her. As usual with this series, there was a bit of suspense at the end and that really helped the characters realize how much they wanted to be together. I loved how Kennedy wasn't impressed with Cain's money and how they both had trauma in their pasts that they slowly learned to trust people each other and heal each other and fall in love. I just loved this book and how these two broken people found each other and got their happily ever after!

Just when I didn’t think there was anyone else to love in Sutter Lake, Catherine writes another remarkable story in the series! Kennedy and Cain completely stole my heart in this book! I already knew I loved both of them separately as we have seen them in the previous books but together they create an awe-inspiring narrative. Kennedy came into town in Beautifully Broken Spirit and got a job at The Kettle and Cain has made appearances in Beautifully Broken Life and Beautifully Broken Spirit to help out as he is a master hacker and incredibly close with Walker and Tucker. You’ll quickly learn in this book that Cain and Kennedy are two people with secrets from their pasts that have shaped them into the people they are. I don’t want to spoil any more secrets and instead have you enjoy them as they develop! Just know that Kennedy isn’t the only one who has a history. Cain has a lot of wounds from his dark past that he’s hurting from and very few know about. As they unfold, you’ll grow to love Cain even more and understand why he is the way he is. Together, Cain and Kennedy’s journey to love is one that will keep you fascinated in the depth of their emotional unfolding and capture a piece of your heart!

I’m so glad that Aaron and Maxine continue to narrate this series for the audiobook!! Their voices embody everything about Sutter Lake and they did yet another spectacular job narrating Kennedy and Cain!

Cain and Kennedy take you on an emotional rollercoaster but it's so good. I love this story and I love Sutter Lake

This story grabbed me from the start. The two main characters Kennedy and Cain both have strong issues of their own. Kennedy feels guilty for something she believes her dad has done and is continuing. She has a strong of wrong and right.
Cain lives daily with regret. He has become successful but it doesn’t make up for what he feels is shortcomings on his part. He and Kennedy have a almost immediate attraction to each other yet both have trouble feeling confident about any relationship.
All through the story I felt the strong feelings and conflicts these two have. The story also contains some real twists and turns that made me more than a little willing to hand out advice. This is a great addition to this series. The author has carried forward previous characters and it gave me the feeling of going home again.

I am grateful for another beautiful love story!

If you love tortured, broken, overprotective heroes and strong, independent, kindhearted heroines you are gonna love this book! It has everything I’ve come to love from a Catherine Cowles book- tragic pasts, a little suspense and a beautiful love story! There are so many beautiful moments in this book not just between Cain and Kennedy but with their Sutter Lake family, I just did not want it to end. But seeing as it is the last book in the series it had to end eventually and the epilogue was an amazing way to finish the series! I’m just keeping my fingers crossed though that there will be visits back to Sutter Lake in the future.
