"A dragon had been called, and someone would have to die."

This book was amazing. I wasn't ready to read a 500+ page book. I picked this up after seeing a few reviews. I read a few pages planning to save this to close out the year. Could. Not. Put. It. Down. When I tell you my family was concerned because they would hear me holler from across the house 😂😂😂. Im on to book two soon. Tau is that guy.

The audiobook was great, Prentice Onayemi read it infinitely better than I could have in my head, he created an atmosphere I couldn't have replicated. Which is not always the case, quite often I just kind of tolerate the narrator. Book was pretty good too, great magic system and world building, good revenge plot, characters were kind of messed up individuals but I was fond of quite a few of them by the end.

Really enjoyed this one! This took some time to grow on me but Tau is unhinged and I was here for it! The political intrigue of the plot kept me engaged till the end. Winter writes fighting sequences very well!

Really good pace, I was never bored. It ends kind of abruptly but was still good.

This book was a whirlwind. Talk about fast paced and full of action. Tau is one of the most badass figures I have read about and the writing style of Evan Winter does a really good job of describing every fight in gory detail. The only reason this book is not rated higher is because of the lack of a super deep plot, confusing list of characters and roles in society (and I read Sanderson), and a first third that did not grip me. Overall a really interesting book jam packed with action. I will definitely be reading the second book soon.

One of the best, most-refreshingly unique fantasy stories that I've read in a long time. The Rage of Dragons is a fast-paced story that still manages to build out a well-developed world, really cool magic/power system, and characters who grip your attention with every move they make. While I am a huge fan of slow-burn fantasy world building a la Brandon Sanderson, the pacing of this story kept me hooked from beginning to end, reminding me a lot of another favorite author, John Gwynne. Can't wait to start book two!
