man, the character development in this book! freaking amazing. these characters. loved them all. loved their stories. loved getting to know them. it was beautifully written. I wish I was better with the words - all I can say is that I highly recommend.

Die Geschichte handelt von zwei Schwestern, women of color. Ihre Lebenswege trennen sich, sie verlieren den Kontakt und entwickeln sich ganz gegensätzlich. Wir verfolgen über das Buch ihre Lebensgeschichten.

Durch den angenehmen Schreibstil liest es sich sehr zügig und die Spannung bleibt bis zum Schluss aufrecht, da es immer noch etwas mehr zu erfahren gibt.

Trotzdem muss ich sagen, dass mich nichts davon so richtig emotional berührt hat. Irgendwas in der Art des Schreibstils hat hier für mich gefehlt.

Obwohl es krasse Momente gab, erschien mir alles irgendwie belanglos, was super schade ist. Man hätte hier einfach noch viel rausholen können.

Everything just scratches the surface in this book. It touches on lots of difficult topics, but stays at a fuzzy, 10,000 foot view. It lacked a plot completely.
