This book is something special. I think I preferred Spoiler Alert on the whole but I definitely felt like there were more messages and more moments where I was proud of the characters. The personal development of both Alex and Lauren was deep, emotional, and heartwarming! The only reason I didn’t give it the full 5 stars was because there was a bit, around their sex scenes I guess, that it felt like it dipped. The sex scenes were good, didn’t take away anything from the story, but I was definitely at a point where I was ready for the two of them to start wrapping up their story, but I knew I still had a good hundred pages left. That said, I tabbed quite a bit for a romance novel and I wouldn’t definitely recommend to everyone!

The best way for me to describe it is that it is special, honest, and worthy!

I don’t know too much about ADHD but I felt like the representation was just. Alex’s character was full of energy but also you felt the pain, understood the other symptoms, could figure out his train of thought. It was truly well-rounded. Then to have a character that has dealt with abuse at her work place, ultimately getting burnt out, whilst also having dealt with comments about her appearance from people throughout her whole life… it was refreshing for them to both be proud of themselves, to know what’s best for their bodies (even if they don’t always stick to it) and to discuss that with one another. Granted, there are complications, but it was lovely to see their “flaws” (as they would be in a lot of other books) not be flaws at all. They were simply a part of them, part of their personality, part of their drive. And it wasn’t a huge part of the plot either, it aided it perfectly!

The conversations of body image, abuse, domestic abuse, ADHD, fat phobia, mental health, and struggling friendships were dealt with with heart, care and still remained lighthearted.

By the end I felt warm, comforted, and proud. Both of the fictional characters and the real characters in my life (myself, my friends, my family) who have dealt with similar things. It has left me with an outlook that I already had but now understand ways to word it and deal with it.

From your shrewish sister from another mister…

“Carry yourself with the confidence of a mediocre white man.”

“The best thing the world offered an ugly little girl was indifference. Pity stung exactly as much as insults, if not more, so she tried to avoid either. She tried to avoid notice. Even as a child, she’d understood it was important to stay quiet. Unobtrusive. And above all, undemanding.”

I was so excited for this book and it didn't disappoint. I would say that tit wasn't as good as Spoiler Alert but it was a strong follow-up. The body positivity and ADHD representation was great and I enjoyed the fan-fiction subplot, as well. I sometimes found the characters a little cringy but that's mainly because I found the characters to be overly-emotional. I honestly feel like that says more about me than it does about the book. I can actually appreciate how emotional Alex was, especially. That's definitely not a depiction that you see very often. And overall, I just really liked how their characters were depicted. They just came off as so kind and generous and loving. There was also something that was referenced often but never actually happened (at least on page) and so that was disappointing. I won't spoil it but if you know, you know. I also don't know if the forced proximity trope really worked here. It made their relationship feel a little forced. (The road trip is what really made me buy their relationship.) And while, I loved Alex, I didn't love how he would constantly say negative things about and to Lauren. I get that it was supposed to feel bantery, and it did at times, but sometimes it felt like just a bit too much. Definitely a fun romance but didn't quite live up to the first companion novel.

Olivia Dade is officially one of my favorite authors, period. This was glorious. I didn't love it quite as much as Spoiler Alert, but I still really loved it. The little details that Olivia includes about the characters make them come alive for me in a way that is super unique. I also love the diversity in her books. I actually shed tears over this one, y'all.

All the Feels by Olivia Dade tells the story of two individuals who are more than their appearances and societal labels. Alex appears to have it all - wealth, fame, talent - but he navigates the world with ADHD. His good intentions and desire to protect people land him in some hot water and Lauren becomes his minder. Unconventional looking by impossible entertainment industry standards, Lauren struggles with being heard by the world, especially her family, and the challenges of navigating a world designed for thin people. As they spend time together, Lauren realizes how smart and kind Alex is, and Alex recognizes that Lauren experiences self-doubt in ways that mirror his own life. Both characters are on a journey to discover their next chapter after Alex has a PR disaster and Lauren burns out from her health care job. Together, they build a relationship and work toward a fulfilling life absent the approval of others. The story touches upon themes of self-esteem, the destructive pressure to appear "perfect," abuse within families, and silencing those foolish voices in our heads. Readers will love the opposites attract/only one-bed tropes.

I think I enjoyed this more than spoiler alert overall although both were a lot of fun!
Alex was really the star of the story for me and made me laugh out loud several times but he and Lauren were both really loveable and I enjoyed seeing their relationship evolve throughout the book. I love a bit of a slow burn and this really delivered on friends to lovers!
Would recommend to anyone with a love for fandom looking for a fun light hearted read with some great characters.
