Cute story. Opposites attract with a plethora of miscommunication tropes.

Alex Woodroe....I'm adding him to my fictional boyfriend list.

I absolutely loved this book so much more than Spoiler Alert! I felt that Alex and Lauren had a better connection, and it felt like both were more grounded in reality than Marcus and Grace.
Not to mention that the banter... The banter was just fun, sexy, witty, and fun and both Alex and Lauren gave as good as they got in such a delicious way.

I really enjoyed the slow burn of this one as it let both Alex and Grace actually learn each other, talk, converse, and be in the same space as they both realized they liked each other and having to come to terms with how their lives away from each other meant and what they meant in each other's lives.

I borrowed this from the library but I might just need to buy a physical copy for myself ❤️

Had so much fun reading this book! I loved Lauren and Alex and their dynamic. I was also never in a million years expecting the term “consentacles” to come up in a romance but it was hilarious!! Had to stop reading at a couple points just so I could laugh.
Also Olivia dade what is your AO3 handle I need to know what your OTP is for scientific purposes!

Middle of the road book for me. It was cute, but I couldn’t get over how mean Alex was to Lauren when they first met for little reason. Like, sure, deciding she was boring because a show runner he hated assigned her as his minder in the lead up to the show being released kind of makes sense. But the fact that he stuck to it for so long was annoying.
Alex overall seemed 1/2D, he didn’t have a whole lot of depth to him. Lauren had a bit more but only by sheer virtue of not immediately hating Alex.
I was pretty meh about the first book and I’m meh about this one too, which is a bummer since as a fattie I want fun, hot romcoms with people like me in the lead!!!
Oh! One thing that was super fucking annoying was Alex constantly commenting on their height difference and how small Lauren is. Can we… have like one romance book where the main female character is taller than 5’3”? As a tall gal it’s jarring how big of a trope this is for romance books.

Definitely Olivia Dade's best book in my opinion but I think at the end of the day the fanfic/AU tropes - even when they're used and referenced with the intention of breaking the 4th wall - just don't do it for me. But thats okay! There's lots to love about this book - Dade is a solid writer, her sex scenes are fire, and she writes complicated lovable characters conquering serious themes with grace and sensitivity. I loved Alex and I found him relatable in a lot of ways.

My core complaints are that I wised she had toned down the number of references to Lauren being "ugly." It makes sense as part of the set up and her and Alex's burgeoning relationship, but at a certain point it ceases to matter - Alex thinks she's hot and they're into each other so that's kind of all that matters? Also, PUT THE PEGGING ON THE PAGE I AM FUCKING BEGGING YOU. For a book that talks SO MUCH about pegging why would you not let me SEE the pegging???
