Yeah.. I don’t need a fat-shaming love interest. I don’t care if he gets a redemption arc later in the book, she deserves better than someone who thought she was ugly and was a jerk about it the first time he saw her. It gives the wrong idea to fat women everywhere that they should hold out for the hot jerk in case he grows to love her for her personality. At any size, YOU DESERVE TO BE LOVED FOR YOUR APPEARANCE AND NOT IN SPITE OF IT!!!
Graphic: Body shaming, Fatphobia
I had hyped up the first one to much and wasn't as in love with it as I had thought. So I hadn't the biggest hopes for this one but was very pleasantly surprised. I got more invested in the couple and I'm excited for the third (and last?).
Don’t read many romances but I was charmed by the cover art. This is quite a cheeky book with repetitive romantic tropes- quite explicit sexual encounters which were rather too much for me. But as a light read it was enjoyable.
This cover though!! I’m really interested in reading diverse romances, whether that be race, gender, sexuality, body type/and or neurodivergence. So it was really awesome to read All the Feels which features ADHD and fat representation, with strong, positive conversations around both.
I love that this book didn’t take itself too seriously - Alex is a love-able goof in this, and I love all the nods to fan fiction and fan culture. His relationship with Lauren was really well thought out and progressed very naturally. They had amazing chemistry too!!
I knocked off a star though for the pacing - this book felt reaaaally long. I feel like a lot of the first half of the book could have been cut down significantly. I was pretty into this story and the characters, but it did seem to drag on unnecessarily.
This is book #2 in the series, although it can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read Spoiler Alert (book #1) yet, but got through this one just fine. Although I’m sure I’d have probably caught more inside jokes, but I was on a time crunch! Gotta love it when they approve ARCs a week before the release date

I wanted to absolutely love this story, and parts I did, but...I was struggling with what to rate it and finally settled on 3 stars. There were so many moments I absolutely loved, but also moments where I had to put the book aside because I needed a break. Because the characters could be incredibly frustrating to read. And the ending left me feeling more meh than anything so 3 stars it is.
This book is about Lauren and Alex. Lauren who is a therapist and does not value herself at all and Alex who is a star of a famous TV show that is almost over who has ADHD and thinks he is incredibly selfish and fails those he loves when he is really the best. Alex who has a short temper, but will stand up for what he thinks is right no matter the costs. Alex who was in a bar fight, who no one even asked what happened but judged him for it. Alex who now needs a minder until the last season of his show airs.
Lauren gets roped into being Alex's minder even though she went to Spain, where they are finishing filming, for a vacation. She just went to visit her cousin she hates because her family asked her to and she will do anything for others because as I said before she doesn't value herself at all. She gives pieces of herself away without thought and refuses anything from anyone else. I did love her at the beginning, at most of the time throughout the story. I loved her inner dialogue. I loved how she dealt with Alex and how funny she was. I loved her. Only I hated her martyr complex. I hated how she feels she has to do what is best for everyone else even if it kills her. She was incredibly frustrating to read at times and I had to put the book aside because of that. If I didn't love her so much outside of those moments I would have dnf-ed the book.
Alex was fun and I really loved him. He is one of those characters that you will love or hate. He does say "mean" things, but with love and in a joking way. When both people are in on the joke, like these two are, and they both enjoy it then I love it. My husband and I do this all the time. We have "pet names" that are not sweet, that other people would not use, that other people couldn't call us, but we say it with love and it is everything. It works for us, but I can see where other people would not enjoy reading it for whatever reason. Alex calls Lauren a harpy and a shrew all the time, they joke about her harpy energy, but that all starts with Lauren. And it is done in an affectionate way which works for both of them and I loved it.
I loved how much Alex cares for other people. I loved how he would do what he thinks is right all the time. I loved how he knew he had to trick Lauren into receiving his help and he was successful at that. I loved how his mind worked and the representation there. Yes, he has issues as well, but they weren't so...it didn't feel like he wasn't himself and he wasn't destroying himself because of them. Sure he might eventually not be able to work as an actor if he keeps going off the rails as others think, but he would bounce back. He would find something else I am sure. But Lauren seemed to just keep giving herself away until there is nothing left. Until she is no longer present. The both of them have issues, the both of them have things to work through, and that is partly why the ending left me feeling meh. They didn't really work through their issues. They just woke up one day, someone said something to them that they have these issues, and they suddenly realize hey wait a minute I am doing this. I do have this issue. And then they just stop doing it. Which...seems unlikely. Especially for the giant issues they had and the length of time they have had them.
Overall I did really love a lot of this book. I just found it frustrating to read as well.

It was so boring and I hated how the mmc described the fmc and a fat bird. He was so rude to her and I couldn’t stand it.

Unlike a lot of other readers, I haven't read the first in the Spoiler Alert series so I was going into this without any prior knowledge, something that didn't throw me off. Marcus is largely absent from the novel and when he is present he isn't a stand out character, which, after reading that he was a main character of the first novel, seems like a weird choice.
The cover is what initially drew me in. I don't often see myself reflected in romance protagonists but the immediate leap into the word round and short being repeated endlessly nearly made me stop nearer to the beginning. It was also difficult to wrap my head around the descriptions of Lauren, she was short and big but her limbs were thin? And she was bird like? Bird like descriptors often lead me to think of tall, lanky individuals so it threw me for a loop. And also, her features were constantly being brought up, I couldn't stand to read another description as "round." I wanted to see him lovingly admire her form, but that didn't come to be in the majority that I read.
I mostly liked the characters. Alex was funny, and I could feel his passion in things, and Lauren (which, hey, same name!) definitely seemed interesting but a bit...flat. You couldn't convince me that Alex was in his late thirties though, he definitely didn't seem mature enough for it, nor world wise. Maybe that's how sheltered stars are, though, I don't know. Lauren was a bit more three dimensional, but still lacked that depth I crave in characters.
What made it hardest to finish was that we hit that climax point really early in the book. Nearly the last 30% is all fluffy and it didn't feel like it wrapped things up for me. The big moment where Alex throws his career away and ruins Lauren's job was well written and intense, though a little cringeworthy, but we still had almost half the book left afterwards. It was a lot to have something so huge happen and then have next to no actual consequences. This book didn't quite hit the mark for me.
