“Whatever happens, I at least got to be your mate for a little while. Everything will have been worth it, just for that.”

“I will fight for him and die for him, but first, I’ll live for him.”

I was honored to receive an ARC for Haven in return for an honest review—AND OMG.

This book was so good. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit more than it’s predecessor and I think that has to do with pacing mostly and setting. In the first book we are stuck to one location mostly except for in flashbacks and that dragged some for me.

However in this one we are OFF TO THE RACES on a cross country adventure—being chased by knights and trying to stop a war.

I loved the development of the characters, the addition of new ones and the romance between our two main characters so much.

There is some downright HEARTBREAKING stuff included in this—people do horrible things in the name of war—and I was shocked and appalled and screaming for our poor Bel and Lena at multiple points.

The representation of PTSD and Panic attacks was handled very well and I was holding my breath during the final confrontation with the king.

JUSTICE FOR KING MADDOCK FOR REAL FOR REAL. It got DARK when we learned what happened to him and omggg I was distraught™️.

The spice was the perfect amount and fit in with the story beats and didn’t seem outta place —that one seen after they fell from the cliff and decided to bang it out was 🤌🏼🤌🏼👌🏼🥣

Overall this duet was so well done and fans of Fantasy and Knight’s tales etc will love this!
