I have never read any of the Cici books before, but I loved this one! The series premise - that being a fairy causes Cici to see things differently - is really innovative; despite having missed some backstory I immediately understood that her mom's octopus tentacles represented how she's constantly doing everything for her family, and how her dad's bear persona is a visualization of his sweet, protective personality. Cici learns a good lesson when everything seems like it's going wrong on her camping trip; you can't plan for everything, and sometimes it's enough to just embrace the surprises life throws at you. This book was so cute, I will happily read and recommend more.
