Turns out this series is as good as people say it is - at least thus far.

The Big Fat Kill is a vigilante story with characters introduced in the previous chapters and some new creepy additions to the mix. It is more a fight of morally ambivalent factions instead of good versus evil. The illustrations are surreal, brutal, and beautiful at the same time.

I really loved the first two volumes of Sin City, but I felt this one missed a step or two. It's not that it's bad, the drawing is still spot on and jumps off the pages, it's just that the plot is lacking here. The first two books are action to action while this one is just too much inner dialog and not enough going on. I'll continue with the series for the art alone, but I sincerely hope that the story lines in the coming volumes are better.

While I do enjoy this volume, it seems less focused on the characters and more on the action filled plot. Where as the last two were focused on the character's state of mind, this one seems merely content to let the action push them forward.
That isn't to say it isn't a good part, the best moments come when there is no action and merely reflection on the events that are taking place.

Another excellent installment in the _Sin City_ series. This novel again features Dwight, this time following the events after he has his new face and he's trying to stay out of trouble. Too bad trouble can't seem to leave him alone. What starts as a simply defense of his new girl when he crazy ex shows up with some friends ends in a bloodbath with the possibility of war looming for the characters that we've come to love from previous books. This section was personally my favorite part of the film, so I can easily see how the novel was just as wonderful. A very faithful adaptation that fans of the film and fans of the genre will easily appreciate.

Getting tired of this series. The characters are interchangeable: muscular tough guy, femme fatale, blah blah blah. The art almost makes this series worthwhile. Almost.
The movie did a far better job conveying the emotions involved in this tale: the tension over the seemingly inevitable war, the kidnappings, the murder attempts.
