He takes a familiar concept and runs with it-- The Tooth Fairy has some issues with her job, God may have been a tad harsh as a parent, David and Goliath's back story, The Grasshopper and the Ant try adulting, a Gen X grandfather on a space colony, etc.
Entertaining overall. Read by Jon Mulaney (the first story in this collection I first heard on This American Life and decided to listen to the rest. I don't typically listen to short stories, but this collection worked out well in that format. The stories are humorous and good to listen to while cleaning, driving, what have you).

This collection book blew me away. Its very much in the style of my sense of humor as a writer, and makes me feel like there might not be a higher purpose in life that isn't creating stories. I listened to the audiobooks over the course of one day, when I just happened to be contending with a bout of ennui (typical in moments when I have the house to myself, the potential being so vast that it engulfs me and renders me docile). It cured my inaction, made me laugh out loud and tear up, and prompted me to recommend it to more people than I've shared a book rec with in recent memory - all by the half way mark. There are some stories I enjoyed more than others, but every single one is sharp and admirable in some way. That said, after 'Meeting Minutes' I knew it was love. I can't wait to read and/or listen to this again. What a gift!
