This installation in the Sword of Truth series is different than any of the previous ones. The main characters are not Richard and Kahlan. The two make characters are half siblings to Richard, and they have abilities of their own.
I was enthralled by their story, but the whole time I wanted to get back to Richard and Kahlan.

3.5 would be more accurate. It was hard not having Richard and Kahlan be the main characters in this book...

Meh. Least favorite of the 7 I’ve read so far. Felt like it was unnecessarily gratuitous in its sex and violence. Ending was good. Oba’s just a gross unnecessary character who’s story just kid of fizzles out in the end so I’d have been happy to just have him left out. Also, I think it’s important to note for victims of sexual abuse that there are multiple trigger moments.

Overall i thought it was very good. Took a lil bit to get me sucked in because i was not following where these new characters came from but by middle i couldnt put it down and had to find out what was going to happen.

Sooo much better than the previous book. New characters, great integration into the main story line, all new info.
