This is part of a series, but you will not really miss much (I didn't) by reading this book first.
While this book starts out slow, it sure picks up and I stayed up late in the night to finish it.

I haven’t read other books by this author so I can’t compare it to her other works. In my mind this book was poorly written. The author repeated herself a number of times and there were many short and choppy sentences throughout the book. I regularly found myself rewriting in my head as I was reading.
The plot was a Standard who-done-it which kept my attention but it had only a few surprising twists.
I’ll find other authors from now on.

Mary agrees to represent her childhood friend, Simon, in a wrongful termination lawsuit against his former employer. She doesn't realize that Bennie, her law partner, represents the parent company.
