I feel a bit crazy for giving this 5 stars because it is certainly no masterpiece of writing and tropes. However, I try to rate books on how much I enjoy them and I really really liked this. This feels like a perfect action mystery plot line with cool characters and neat twists. I wish the ending was done a bit neater, but it was still so fun that I can't fault the book that much for it. I love how interactions between different Inquisitors is treated and how deep ideological feuds can be, while each person still has a unifying purpose. The terror the warp and various Chaos based things can cause is described really well in a way that makes you understand how insane the conditions in some places could be. Overall just enjoyed it a lot.

I found this to be a slog… it feels like non stop exposition dumping and not much happen that I found engaging or interesting.
