One of these great books that are quite short but packed with emotions, character development, interesting plot and incredible moments. I love books with unrealiable narrators, especially if they are built in a sensible and deep way, and Tony Webster is a great example. It was my first book by Barnes, chosen due to the 2011's Booker winning. My only issue with the story/plot, and the reason why it's not a 5 star reading for me, it's Veronica. Her nature, as a character, clearly helped the plot, and she accuses him of not understanding anything.... But how was he supposed to know about the details of what happened? Still, great reflection on time, memories, actions we take and their consequences.

Abelist. Read through a mediocre book to be hit with a bunch of ableism at the end.<spolier> With 20 pages left of the book, the big twist is revealed and, surprise! The ex-girlfriend has a disabled child. The author then goes on to spend the rest of the book describing said child as "a curse," "evil," and the main character now reflects on how easy and blessed his life has been having a "normal" child.

The writing was so beautiful in this book. It was thought provoking, the protagonist was endearing and I found myself taking pictures of lots of the paragraphs. I was a little confused by the ending and definitely found Part 1 of the book more impactful. Not much happened plot wise, but that wasn’t the aim of the book I felt - it was a beautifully crafted reflection on life that I looked forward to going back to every time I stopped reading.
