Forcei me a ler até aos 64% antes de desistir.

After having read Shain Rose’s hardy brothers series and loving them, I really wanted to delve into her other series.

However this one just didn’t hit the mark for me. I feel like the story in general was longer than it needed to be. The FMC and MMC grated on me alot. And it just felt like ground hog day repeating the same old cycle over and over again. I appreciate that was part of the storyline but it just aggravated me.

However I do think the trauma issues were well written, the ending was nice, I loved the network of characters, the spice was good and I really connected with the emotional torments of the story.

I was finding the MMC uncomforting and the FMC annoying. While I understand the depth of the trauma it feels like neither had personal growth away from each other. 6 years later and they are still "pulled" to each other after a summer of trauma bonding. I'm sure there will be growth throughout the rest, but I have no desire to pick it up and see it through.

There was a lot of potential here, but it fell flat for me. This is a second, third, and fourth chance romance in one book.
The relationship was toxic and had no trust. Even in the epilogue, the fact that there is not full trust in the relationship overshadows the fact that he bought a ring. And then proposing on the anniversary of her mother’s death is absolutely bananas.
This story should not have had a happy ending where they ended up together.
