This started as a book I thought my granny would like. It followed a fairly normal story and I enjoyed it as one of the first reads of the year.
Curveballs were thrown, if you’ve read the blurb be prepared to not even care about that side of the story!
The ending was unnecessary and felt like a cheap shot but overall, the book is written simply and is the kind of writing I enjoy.

A bit slow at times. Ending was frustrating but also interesting. The plot kept me interested throughout the book. I felt sad for the main character but i enjoyed when she reflected on her life and seemed to enjoy the little things more.

Would’ve been 4 stars but she killed off the only character that I actually liked. Fuming

Very easy, cosy read. Flew through the book, the writing style was nice, and while the story felt a bit slow at times I think it reflected nicely the 1950s way of life. The end !! As someone said in their review - does make you go “oh ffs”. Nice enjoyable read and a different plot idea, but not the most memorable for me.
Really really like the cover though.

I have come back after a year to write this review and had to ask my book club to remind me what this book was about - that about sums up my experience with it. It’s an interesting story and was an enjoyable read, with some good characters and connections, but I haven’t thought about it since. Perfect holiday read or one for when you want something easy!

Feelings for the characters transformed over the course of the book, spinning out from a mysterious event to the strings throughout everyone’s life
