Rarely do I find a book that has been published today that has that Regency feel which I long for. Just like I found it in Jude Morgan, I believe I have found it in Elizabeth Hanbury.

The author has successfully woven a wonderful story around characters who seem so real and one immediately feels sympathetic towards them because of the difficulties they experienced in their past. My weakness is a large family with many brothers, and Hal, the hero, had that sort of family which made him even more likable to me. He had all the characteristics one desires in a dashing hero, while Isabella is the vulnerable heroine but with a great strength of character.

Being the prude that I am, there was a scene which would usually ruin a good book for me, but this did not deter my enjoyment of the story. It was a pleasant read overall.

A sparkling, extremely well written Regency romance, Ice Angel ticks all the requisite boxes. Isabella, Lady Vane, with all of her reserve and caution, is still a warm, lovely female protagonist, one who is easily identified with through her role as mother to Dominic. Hints of a dark side to her former marriage are sprinkled throughout the first part of the book, adding intrigue and suspense to what would otherwise be a very straightforward premise. We meet Hal, Lord Bramwell at a party, and are instantly drawn to his personable demeanor and seemingly devil may care attitude. When he sees Isabella, it's pretty much love at first sight, and the fun begins. Secondary characters such as Isabella's Aunt Harriet and the rest of the Cavanaugh family, make this an engaging read. I look forward to reading brother Theo's story next (A Bright Particular Star).

With a nod to the social problems of the day in London, Ice Angel is a feel good love story written in wonderfully intelligent prose, that will leave you smiling and wishing for more.
