I nearly DNFed at the start because the heroes seemed such tropey characters, the skinny young campy guy, the middle aged working class dad. Then they grew on me unexpectedly. Even the requisite moppets grew on me.

That costumed teddy bear though. Nope. That was a cutesy wootsy line over the top.

Also, I get this is a book of a certain length and there's no time to get into time as it were...but that HEA happened damn quickly, especially when you consider kids lives are involved. Most single parents I know don't mix their love lives and family lives for quite a bit longer so they are surer things will work out.

Only one dead parent though, which for this author is a light touch indeed.

Enjoyable enough for a lazy day in a hammock. Would I read it again? Probably not.
