I enjoyed the intricacy of the storylines and how they feed into one another. I personally though was not attached to any of the characters and did not really connect w them, making it difficult for me to really get into it. I also found parts of the plot and messaging shallow at times, like it never really reached where it was trying to go. It was a good read but nothing particularly stands out to me.

The Nix was an unexpected hit for me. From the first few chapters, I had no idea just how big this story would get, but that was half the fun. It weaves together different timelines and characters in a way that felt effortless, like pulling on a small thread and realizing it’s actually part of an intricate rug.
What I loved most was how each storyline deepened the others. Just when I thought I was following one character’s journey, another perspective would sneak in, connect the dots, and shift the whole meaning. It never felt disjointed, though. Every piece clicked into the larger picture of family, memory, and how messy and complicated our past can be.
The characters are flawed, funny, and frustrating in the best ways. By the end, I didn’t just care about where the story was headed; I cared about all of them, and how their lives had tangled up across decades.
For me, this is a big story, full of big ideas, but told with heart and humor. Easy 5 stars.

I need to let this one sink in before I consider rating it. It was too long at times. At other times, it was insightful, funny and I never knew what was coming next. I felt like I knew the characters.
This is a mind-blowing work of fiction. Read it! You're going to love it!!
Hill is fearless in his depiction of life, love, big cities, small towns, Walter Cronkite, publishers, the media, presidential candidates, police, the FBI, mothers, sons, and child molesters. I was moved by the insights in this book about gaming addiction, introverts, politics and so much more. Hill moves deftly from the most lucid of descriptions to stream of consciousness riffs and even moved me to seek out some poetry by Allen Ginsberg mentioned in the book. The book is a lovely, wild ride. Thank you, Nathan Hill!!
Highly recommended!!
