What a fun ride! Perfect escape reading with plenty of magic and mystery. Thank you, NetGally, for the eARC.

I just.. how? How has this book made me love Arthur and Rory even more? Their dynamic is so precious that it melts my heart. Much like the first book in the series, the plot is intense and kept me turning pages well past my bedtime. I adore how vibrant Therin has made the world in these books. I absolutely cannot wait to pick up book 3.

RE-READ: Just emotions. I am nothing but emotions. So great to see Wes and Sebastian in this one now that I've read Proper Scoundrels (several times *ahem*)

These characters warm my heart. They feel like friends, like people I've known for a long time. Even ones we haven't seen much, like Sasha and Pavel.

Though Arthur's family annoyed me quite a bit in this, for both historical reasons and plot reasons. The historical reasons I can deal with because they make sense. But it seemed a bit of a stretch to involve John and then never really do more with that. It wasn't even revisited, except for him to say he hadn't had the dream again. He's a smart guy; I think he would've been a bit more curious.

This one felt like a second book. It lagged a little. I still very much enjoyed it and could not read it fast enough, but it didn't have the same shine, the same intrigue that the first one cultivated. And the historical accuracy still bugged me. I'd love to learn more about Sebastian, though!

Now, avoiding saying too much about the plot because this is the second in a trilogy and I wouldn’t want to spoil anything for people who have yet to start this series—I CAN say that Starcrossed was just as enjoyable as its predecessor. I was a little worried about the arrival of Ace’s ex-lover because I really dislike love triangles and jealous spats, but the way everything was handled in this book focussed more on the comedy of the situation as opposed to any conflict. In fact, I could have personally done with more of Wesley. He was a butt, but he was an amusing one, and the back and forth with him and Ace was hilarious, especially when discussing a certain tiny Italian with a foul mouth.
While I did feel that the ending was a little chaotic and rushed, I would still recommend this novel and series as a whole. It’s just too entertaining not to. I also plan on moving on to the third book… eventually (when I’m ready for it all to end).

4.5 stars!!!

I adore Rory! Ace isn’t so bad himself. This was full of action and suspense but also a few quiet times between the pair. I’m greatly looking forward to the last book!
