I found this book at a used bookstore. I read the back of it and thought it sounded like it might be up my alley. I ended up leaving the book there but I co ldn't stop thinking about it. I went back to get it right before they closed and it's been on my self since July. 🤣

The start was a little slow but it picked up towards the end. It has multiple main characters and they all have different storylines that meet up to complete the story.

The book starts with meeting Harvey — a sur eon who has an episode.  I loved the beginning of the book, it was mysterious and action packed and really grabbed my attention.

Then we meet Molly — a 16 year old prostitute. She drove me nuts for most of the book. She is a very unreliable emotional character.

Finally we meet Toby — an ER doctor who is involved in everything. She has mother with Alzheimer's and a sister who are supporting characters.

^ this book has a lot of characters because Toby also has a lot of doctor friends that I'm not mentioning.

For me the "twist" ending wasn't really a twist and it was predictable. It was written in 1997 so I am giving it the benefit of the doubt. It could have been a newer concept at that time.

I enjoyed reading this medical drama. It was medically enough to understand, but it's obvious she has worked in the medical field and did her research on the topics mentioned.

i think this is the second book she wrote which is kind of cool because she has so many and is such a well known author. It's nice to read one of her older works.
