Emotional journey

Miranda Mae has been stalking her sexy neighbor, never having the courage to talk to him. But once she does start the conversation the two instantly connect. At first Holden is stand-offish and does not want to connect but Mae breaks down his barriers and passion ignites. Unfortunately, Holden has some issues with PTSD after losing his leg and his best friend while he was in the Army. Can Mae help him recover? Or will Holden find a reason to fight his demons and claim the woman he loves. With great characters and a storyline that had me laughing as well as crying, this book should not be missed.

I had previously read See Through Heart by Amie Knight, and enjoyed that story, so I was looking forward to reading more from this author. And I'm glad that I did!

This was the story of Miranda and Holden. These two found their way into my heart, and I just couldn't help but love them! It was a sweet, uplifting, and at times funny and quirky. This is not an easy combination to find in a book, and it was done quite well!

I am glad that I stumbled upon Amie Knight a few months ago, and look forward to reading more by her in the future!

A Steel Heart was SUCH A GOOD READ! I loved seeing the emotional depth of Miranda after only seeing her goofy carefree side in Ainsley’s story. Holden really shined a light on the struggles many of our veterans go through with PTSD And reintegrating into civilian life, which was something I really admired. Especially since Holdens struggles are perfectly weaved into this angsty, sexy, fun romance story in a way that added to it.

Reading this reminded me why I fell in love with Amie Knight’s writing in See Through Heart. 💕

Miranda and Holden’s story had everything that I want in a book.

Heroine- plucky, sweet, empathic, generous, bookish, and a little crazy
Hero- battle scarred, brooding, temperamental, sexy, protective, redeemable,
Story- angst, fear, lust, despair, love

Loved this book and wasn’t ready for it to end.

I actually won a copy of this book on a whim, and I wasn't even sure if I'd ever get around to actually reading it. But out of no where I decided to pick it up and I'm glad I did. It was a rough start but sticking with it sure made it worth it. I loved the ups and downs and the real experiences they had. The end was pretty close to perfection.

Era iniziato bene, sembrava un sacco carino, poi sono entrate in gioco le dirty talks e meh, poi all'80% angst gratuito, incidenti, piaghe d'Egitto... anche no, grazie.

Hmmm what to say?? I did kind of like Holden. Miranda was okay too... I didn't fall in love with either of them and I was really sad because so many people loved this book!

It lacked emotion when it clearly was needed. It was like I was just reading words in the page and they didn't evoke any feelings in me. This is quite rude to say but I did really wish I could fall in love with this book, truly.

Holden's behaviour was so not of a grown man. I get that the scenes with him and Will were supposed to be endearing and cute but it just felt weird. Like Will was a child who wasn't acting at all like a 9 year old. And Holden was taking Will's claims seriously and it drove me crazy—he even tackled this child to the ground... it was annoying.

I also felt that these characters didn't talk their problems through. There were just a series of romantic gestures that would "fix" any problem they had. Something tells me that they would be running out of gestures sometime soon...

Okay so that aside, I did enjoy many aspects of the story but it wasn't enough for me to fall in love with it or forget the aspects I didn't like.

SWOON!! What a perfect story!! Miranda, a happy, perky, perfect mess, and Holden, a grouchy retired Army Ranger, have absolutely nothing in common. After the first few disastrous encounters, the unexpected happens...Holden steps in to rescue her. That’s when Miranda realizes that there is so much more to her broody neighbor, and that maybe Holden needs some rescuing of his own. This book tugged at my heart so much!! I was sad, I was swooning, I was laughing so hard at the other “man” vying for Miranda’s affection. Highly recommend!!

One of the things I love about Amie Knight is that she can encompass so many feelings and emotions in her books- she can write witty dialog, touching emotional situations, and passion too! A Steel Heart had all of this and more. I loved how quirky Miranda was- after meeting her in See Through Heart I knew she was a character I wanted to get to know better. (Please note that A Steel Heart can definitely read as a standalone.) I enjoyed her profession so much- she's a romance novel editor! So perfect! Holden's story was captivating and had me gripped. Their meeting and interactions were so well-written. I was glad this was written in dual POV because both characters were so interesting and well-developed. A must read!
