4.2 AVERAGE

There are some layers to this I’m gonna need to do some background reading to understand, but in a good way. Beautiful novel, a little hard to follow at first but worth sticking with. I’m gonna be thinking on this for a while. Lots of Southern Gothic vibes and a little bit of “Get Out” to me.

Maybe my favorite book I’ve read this year. Morrison’s writing is spectacular.

This is a rich book thick with symbolism and themes.  I'm still parsing through them, but here are some: freedom can be a loveless and selfish venture,  knowing where we come from is important (this was a challenge in the story because of slavery), and we can fly (if we surrender to the wind 😉)
