4.2 AVERAGE

Quite possibly the best book I have ever read.

One of the best stories I've read; would recommend.
adventurous emotional mysterious slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

This was a rereading. Still digesting the themes of internal colonization, intra-racial discrimination, and classism.

Did-not-finish..more like an apologetic could-not-finish?
I really wanted to get it; but I found this story impenetrable. The atmosphere is heavy and laden with dread and sadness.
Originally I'd decided I would come back to this book when I feel more ready to tackle it, but more than a year has passed and it is time to admit defeat. I just don't do very well with magical realism.
dark emotional sad tense medium-paced

Part 2 of the book was better than Part 1.

almost let this be a trap book instead it’s one of my favorites, ever

At least a 4.5. Not 5 yet because it hasn’t all settled yet. But, damn. Toni Morrison is so fucking good. I literally cannot describe it.

3.5!

Pretty obviously phenomenal but wow that ending. I’ve been thinking about it for months later. Toni Morrison is an unparalleled talent.
