Some books work for me and some don't. This one did. The previous one that didn't was "just a bit twisted" which I started immediately before this. And this was like alpha werewolf shifter stuff but it felt so much more realistic, like emotionally? Cartoonishly evil villains aside.
Anyway, will probably read more from this series. Smut was on point.

I absolutely loved this book, it's the first I've read in this series and I will definitely go back and read the others. I love a strong Alpha that takes care of those he cares for. There's steam, love, tenderness, and so much more.

This could have been much better. Dimitri taking care of Brook was sweet, but I didn’t get the sense of his feelings toward Brook until he said he loved him. Like others have pointed out, he never even touches Brook’s dick!! I wanted him to admit his attraction to Brook as a man, but he never says that he is anything but straight.

I’m not sure why, but I love the fake boyfriend/husband/mate trope! This did it very well. I wasn’t sure what to think of either of them to start. They both had a**h*lish tendencies, but they quickly grew on me. I kind of wish we had something from Dimitri’s point of view although his feelings did come through in his actions. I didn’t see the big reveal coming so it was a surprise. Brook’s family totally sucked, it was no wonder he was the way he was.

This one was probably my least favorite of the series. The relationship development between Brook and Dimitri didn't make a lot of sense to me because there really wasn't any development. Dimitri is Brook's mate-for-hire, the sleep together sometimes, but there is very little talking. Dimitri only really opens up once to talk about his family. Brook and Dimitri realistically develop a nice friends with benefits type of relationship. It felt very out of left field when all of a sudden they were professing their love to each other at the end with their first kiss, all the while Dimitri is constantly insisting he's VERY straight and Brook is strictly a top. I will say, what happened with Brook's family in the end was pretty satisfying. I found it entertaining enough to finish, but this one is pretty low on my list of the Mismatched Mates series thus far.
