The actual text read was The Annotated Alice - edited by Martin Gardner & updated by Mark Burstein - a massive red-covered work, not the thumbnail currently indicated.

The annotations provide fantastic commentary (and clearer understanding) on the social and political inferences that are strewn across Carroll’s work. Provides a deeper appreciation of the whimsy that is inherent within the Alice works.
Thanks Juju for the recommendation and discussions.

I've loved this story ever since I was a kid: it validates the nonsensical dreams I have every night.

"He is called a tortoise because he taught us" - Carroll must have been feeling witty af at his raven writing desk.

I have to read this in paper format. Felt like I was missing out on something by not seeing these whimsical words in front of my eyes.

I think I read this before many years ago but I did not remember just how much of the animated movie is borrowed from Through the Looking-Glass. An enjoyable (re?)read.

"That's the reason they're called lessons," the Gryphon remarked: "because they lessen from day to day."

This book is so hilarious omg and I read it all in one sitting! it's such a delight and i'm questioning why it took me so long to finally pick this up. I love Alice's adventure in wonderland and I would very much like to go there someday too.
