Goddamn goddamn!
This book had me hooked from the first word to the last! I mean everything is far fetched as hell but it doesn’t even matter!
It was funny, dark, steamy, intriguing, and so damned entertaining.
Jessica and her twin brother, Jude, fake their own deaths because of reasons yet undisclosed, and relocate to elderly suburbia as Jackson and Jillian Knight.
But Jillian has a wild streak that she just can’t snuff out and does anything but fly under the radar in their new community. And of course she sucks her next door neighbour into her web of intrigue.
The rigid military man tried his hardest to resist her, but in the end AJ just couldn’t resist Jill’s wild feminine wiles.
However, Jill already had an epic love when she was Jess, in the form of one regimentally stuffy psychiatrist, Luke.
The story flits back and forth between her relationship with Luke, and her budding relationship with AJ.
The mystery/suspense/thriller aspect of the story still@has me second guessing everything. I’ve had so many different theories throughout the book and can’t wait to find out if ANY of them are right so excuse me whilst I dive into book 2!
My various theories - POSSIBLE SPOILERS!
AJ is the true love interest and will end up with Jill.
Luke is the true love interest and will end up with Jess.
AJ is actually a bad guy. Maybe to do with her kidnapping. Maybe to do with her parents’ death - we don’t yet know if those two events are connected.
Luke is actually the bad guy - same theory as I had for AJ above but swapped to Luke.
Lilith is a bad guy/plant. Because why would she pretend to be totally deaf all that time and never utter a single word??? Also, who’s going to suspect the old lady who needs a part-time carer?
None of them are bad guys but KNOX is the bad guy. He’s playing the long game because obviously he helped relocate them etc…but he could bide his time and leak info if he so wished!
My least likely theory - Jess had a mental break in captivity and has dreamed up this entire situation. She could be in a coma and wake to find it was all a dream la Dallas.
OMG new theory just come to me writing this review! She has had a mental break plus some form of amnesia. Everything that’s happening today is real but the past is not. And AJ IS LUKE and everyone is just pretending and going along with her altered reality because they’ve been recommended to do it to try and help her recover her memory! It’s so insane it might be the one…

”His hands remained static in his back pockets, but for some reason that felt more dominating than if they’d been tangled in her hair. Luke controlled her with just his presence. Jessica was drowning in his taste, the way his tongue manipulated hers, and his lips overruled the urgent pace hers were desperate to maintain. It was too fast and too slow, too much, yet not enough. It was in her head—he was in her head.”
