I honestly thought I would hate this and that it would be a dreadful read, turns out it was actually okay. I enjoyed reading his perspectives in the topics he covered in this essay collection, didn't agree with any of it but still enjoyed it nonetheless.
If you find yourself hating this essay collection then congratulations, you're not a pessimist, you should be proud of yourself. I personally would like to be more optimistic, but sometimes I do find pessimism more suitable in some situations, I guess I'm somewhere inbetween; a realist, maybe?
Also, an important note, don't take this essay collection too seriously; I think people should appreciate philosophers more and try to understand their points, but I also think people should use some critical thinking and stop defending their favourite philosopher's arrogance. Schopenhauer is a mysoginist, there's no debate about that but also no point in getting angry about it now.
