Enjoyed this, some really fun facts there, and lots to think about. However, left a really sour taste in my mouth when the author used the sp*z slur for no reason. Wish she hadn't done that!!

I love Mary Roach's style. Every book is a joy and this one has kept me busy for months!

I loved the subject matter, learmed a lot and had to question some if my biases.

Would be a 5 except i could not read more than a chapter at a time and i started avoiding it. Wish i hadnt started it with my kid because i think it slowed me down.

But i am so glad i finished because i got a ton out of it, including laughs.

I picked this up expecting laugh-out-loud-funny: thieving primates and avian vandals. There's a little of that, but Roach also covers the heavier side of human-animal conflict. Roach never makes-light of or trivializes the scenarios she spotlights, recognizing that the non-human animals are rarely at fault, while also handling human upset with deft sensitivity.

A very interesting and informative read, but also so slow, and filled with so much unrelated chatter about somebody's clothes etc.

Very interesting and fun to read! Ends up being more about "the ways to deal with wild animals" than about people suing crickets for the destruction caused to their crops. Coexistence is not only the best way to deal with these animal hazards but, apparently, the only one that shows good results.
The book draws itself out a bit lo ger than I'd like, but it might be cause I read the e-book version.

Some really fascinating anecdotes and I love the footnotes in her work as always. This was a relatively quick read, and I think I might have preferred the audiobook, but I'm not sad I read it.
