Une excellente lecture à la limite du coup de cœur ! L'ambiance et l'intrigue sont tellement bien, j'étais à fond et je ne voyais pas les pages défilées

I liked the first book for the world building and the new area of fantasy I had found. This book made me love the characters SO much more than I thought it would. There was still everything the first book had, and dove so much deeper into the characters and made them so much more complex. I took so long with this book and I'm so glad I did. A duology was way to short for these characters and their stories. And let me just say, not only did this have the *we have to stay the night and there's only one bed* bit, but it ALSO had the *we have a long journey and we have to take ONE HORSE*, which I didn't know I needed until I read it. Parts of this book could drag a little, which is why I think it took me as long as it did. But overall loved this duo.

This duology was so good! The characters were good and I had to know how it ended.
With fantasy novels it takes me a while to get into it. With this duology it took me a bit further into the novels than usual but they were so good I just had to keep going and get to that, can’t put it down moment

Hear me out!! I thoroughly enjoyed the plot of this book and all of our characters as individuals. The romance in this duology kept taking me out of the story every time it was brought up. I didn’t feel the chemistry between our two main characters. I would have been fine if it was taken out and we just explored the found family element on top of the longterm friendships already established.

FINALLY, Its done!!

Maybe 2 stars are harsh. However, a book that lies on my Bedside table for what felt like two weeks and I only managing to read it when I "forced" myself out of my apartment is not a good look.

This was so boring and so confusing. The Love story was weird. The ending to it was soo unnecessary drawn out. The whole king thing felt weird and twisty at the end, and TBH so was the whole book. The whole thing felt too generic but also to "I want to be different" at the end.

And honestly, I feel sad that I have to write this, because I genuinely enjoyed the first book and I felt this could have been a great duology. But like I said the ending (and we knew what happens come on it is a YA fantasy/romance novel) teased a different ending but did not go through with it (which probably would have been better). The new and/or already existing side characters that got more time were boring and did not feel like they brought something to the plate. Furthermore, I felt like the fun and jokiness of the first book was gone.

The two stars do feel like it’s mostly because I was so disappointed but quite honestly, I do not remember much of the book except the weird ending and the generic plot points that every YA novel has.
