dark mysterious medium-paced

The extraneous back story is distracting and hurts the pace of the book.

Eh. As much as I enjoy chapters on a drinking bender, I just couldn't believe in these characters.

This book kept me reading the whole way through. Every minute when I had nothing to do at work I was reading it.

The story has a good balance between science and who-done-it. Even if you know nothing about forensic anthropology the author is descriptive enough to fill you in. Even when you think you've figured out what's going on, Reichs twists the story and sends you in another direction.

A good read for someone who loves a murder mystery and science.

This was probably one of the more disjointed stories she's written. Maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention, but too many people seemed to be involved in the murders. I like books where you have a chance of figuring it out on your own, not a person thrown in there out of nowhere. With that being said, I still want to read the next one in the series.

I liked this book, but it wasn't as good as her other books. There was too much witchcraft, voodoo, etc. that I couldn't keep straight.
